The project comprised the rehabilitation and improvement of the Peliyagoda to Kiribathgoda stretch of the A-1 Colombo-Kandy Road. Funded by the government of Saudi Arabia under the Saudi Fund for Development, the project is implemented by the Road Development Authority.

This 8 km stretch is crucial to daily travel of thousands of commuters and care was taken to ensure minimal inconvenience was caused to daily commuters. The project was completed and handed over to the Road Development Authority in December 2014.
