Maga in Brief
Since its establishment in 1984, Maga has been an active participant in the construction industry in Sri Lanka. Over the course of the past 27 years, the organisation has defined itself by continually reinvesting its knowledge and capital. This has helped them evolve from working alongside several international contractors to currently executing some of the most prestigious building and infrastructure development projects in Sri Lanka. Receptive to the emerging national needs, the company is committed to the reconstruction and rehabilitation projects currently underway across the country.
In 2009, Maga received the Gold rating in the first ever Corporate Accountability Rating carried out by Sting Consultants, in recognition of its sustainable construction practices as well as social, environmental and financial accountability. In the subsequent year, the company received the Platinum rating. The company also attained the coveted Business Superbrand status in 2008, becoming the first construction company in Sri Lanka to do so. The Company has being the winner of the Construction Sector at the National Business Excellence Awards for the last four consecutive years, and the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka’s (IESL) first ever Engineering Excellence Award in 2008.
Amidst a challenging economic backdrop, the company has consolidated steady growth over the last few years. During the 2010/11 financial year, Maga achieved a revenue growth of 29%. The company is poised to consolidate this further in 2011/2012, along with a steady growth of its its plant & machinery base, which grew by 26% compared to the previous financial year.
